Torrential rain as the first man went off was enough to make our President change his mind after his warm-up potter, so he is still to break his duck for the year. The rain was heavy enough that some of the privates, having already paid up and signed on, changed their minds!
Fortunately despite being very wet, it wasn't cold, but there was still a wind blowing - from the East? - making it hard on the A3 to Oxshott and again up Tartar's Hill to the finish.
Our numbers were depleted by the 5 Phoenix members riding the Norwood Paragon 50: and, as Frank pointed out, if Simon hadn't ridden then Tony Tugwell would have won the Club Event! |
