There was a little huddle of us at the start: those DNS due to illness or injury. I appear to have a hamstring injury - too much sprinting whilst handing up drinks in the 100 a couple of weeks back. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! The doctor says don't ride the bike, so I'm resting prior to the 25 on Sunday. Jen decided that her back was playing up and not comfortable in a racing position. Iain has a bronchial infection and settled for an armful of kiddie.
However we all picked a good evening to miss. Mostly it was O.K., but it was just too windy to be a fast evening and there were a lot of disappointed people in the car park after.
The fact that both the first and second fastest were highly placed in the handicap proves that it was a hard evening.
The good news is that the really rough bit of the 10 course, between mid-Holmwood and Beare Green is being properly resurfaced which should make it faster and - more importantly - safer. Unfortunately we will not really benefit from it before next year now.
