We were blessed with good weather for our 25th Annual Hilly 12 mile event. Although overcast, it was a warm and pleasant morning and the rain held off until after we were all safely finished.
25 years ago the event and course were designed by Les Parker, who now rides for the North Hampshire Road Club and we were delighted to have Les and his children riding the event.
The guest riders had a good day, with Gary improving his event record, although, as he is no longer a Phoenix member, the Club Record remains unchanged. Tony and Susan Parker were both faster than the Junior Phoenix Records for the event.
Ray improved the club Vets O.A.S Record for the event to + 4 minutes 39 seconds
The riders had plenty of support on the way round as Thomas and Paul Fricker, and Olivia and Merissa Powney screamed encouragement at us from some strategically placed car parks! It was also a pleasure to see Mick Knight again as his cycling has taken a back seat to real life for most of this year. |
