The overnight rain was ominous for the event, but come morning the rain had stopped and although it was still damp and muggy and overcast, the morning gradually brightened until the sun came out.
Unfortunately the wind also got up, making it quite a hard morning.
Joe did a storming ride for a well deserved pb and the Club handicap. Ann also managed a pb & the vets O.A.S record, but missed the non-O.A.S record by 21 seconds. The winners time was eight minutes slower than last year, making Ray's and Grant's times seem quite respectable against last year's.
Finally Mark looked really cheerful when he came past us at 30 miles where we were doing the feed by the Southwater RAB, little did we know he was so happy because he was heading straight back to the car, instead of turning at the roundabout!
